MERDEKA MONTH. WAVE THE JALUR GEMILANG PROUDLY!

You think you know the history of this flag? Well behold the ORIGINAL Malaysia Flag designed by Allahyarham Mohamed Hamzah.

 

The year is 1949. The third design, created by architect Johor Public Works Department, Mohamed Hamza, displayed eleven blue and white stripes with white stars the moon on the left side and a choice of a majority assent of the Kings Council Meeting held on February 22 and 23, 1950.

Before the flag design was made official, there were few amendments that were made to it. This included a proposal by the Sultan of Kedah who asked to change the white crescent to yellow to represent the Malay rulers. On April 19, 1950, the Federal Legislative Council, through the approval of the Council of Malay Rulers, approved the Kedah Sultan’s proposal which was presented to the Acting Chief Secretary to the Government of the Federation of Malaya flag.

Anyway  Mohamed Hamzah designed this flag base on the Johor flag. Which probably makes the Sultan of Kedah angry. Hehe.

The winning design was actually chosen from polls by The Malay Mail, voted by the peoples of Malaya themselves. 373 designs enter the competition only three were shortlisted.

So you guys must be wondering whats the rejected or losing design looks like?

 

The two kris were actually an ancient symbol of The Old Johor Empire and probably related to The Melacca Sultanate. The kris design are still being use in the Royal Malaysian Navy Flag.

All these were designed by En Hamzah. This one particularly receive 27% of the votes. Meanwhile the wining design received 47% votes.... and you know what is weird? 25% prefer the UNION JACK... LOL

 

This flag was called the People's Flag. This is the original flag favoured by the Malays back then. This flag closely related to the Indonesian Flag. The red and white are actually the flag of the Majapahit Empire and probably goes way back even before the Srivijaya Empire. 

The Pan Nasionalist whose dream to create the Gagasan Melayu Raya have been using this flag for quite some time, even UMNO still use this flag today.

Friends. I am a proud Malaysian. Remember our past. Don't fight with each others. All races in Malaysia are Brothers and Sisters whether you like it or not we live inside the same pot. Sharing the same cake. So for GOD SAKE stop bickering and together make MALAYSIA GREAT!!

By the way... if all the races leaders back then, Malay, Chinese, Indian and Sabahan and Sarawakians .. 55 odd years ago doesn't have cool minds.. this bellow will be our flag.
