DEFTECH AV 4 00 Force Assault Recon Vehicles

DBR-Hicom Technologies Sdn Bhd (Defteoh) plans to aggressively market the first Malaysian-developed armoured vehicle, the Deftech AV4 00 Force Assault Recon Vehicles (FARV), both domestically and abroad.

Its chief operating officer Amin Gund said the AV4 was designed specifically to meet the requirements of the Malaysian Armed Forces, which had initially mooted the idea in 2003.
“We invested RM5 ringgit into the project (while the rest was given by the government), from research and development right up to building the AV4 00 prototype. Given the opportunity, we believe this armoured vehicle can fulfill the needs of our Armed Forces,” Gundu said.

AminGundu said being a locally developed vehicle, the AV4 00 would have all the benefits of rapid after sales support as Deftech could supply parts and carry out maintenance and repair works. Plus, its parts can be found in any off the shelve tactical off field maintenance and repair depot (in other words bengkel kereta mana-mana)


“At present many of the specialised vehicles used by the Armed Forces and police are from overseas, and availability of parts on demand is sometimes a challenge,” he said at a briefing on the AV4 00 in Shah Alam on Feb 15.

He said the AV4 00 had undergone rigorous mobility testing at Deftech’s NATO-certified test track in Pekan, Pahang. He also said the test surpass NATO test requirement.

the 8x8 armour personnel carrier...equipped with M243 Bushmaster 30mm cannon and 2 7.62 coaxial GPMG the PARaS! is slightly different from the PARS of FNSS...mainly on it hull design..where the ground clearance is higher and it has a much higher survivability towards mines or IED...this APC variant can also be fitted with explosive reactive armour...or slat armour to have a better protection against anti tank guided weapon or rocket propelled grenade...

the suspension were consist of fully and semi automatic pneumatic control system...assisted by vehicle onboard computer...with 3 speed configuration...

the SAM vehicle variant were slightly larger to accomodate the Umkhonto-R missile system but maintained the same hull design and characteristics...the missile is radar guided with range up to 25km and max altitude of 12km...placed on octuple launcher...other armaments include 2 coaxial GPMG or 2 AGL...or a mix of GPMG and AGL....

media was told by MERCUN ROKET Bhd that the TEBABOM could carry 8 fifty kiloton nuclear tipped warhead or 16 conventional burst warhead...which could reach up to 1000km to 5700km in under 10 minutes...well within range on almost all major capital cities...the source of nuclear material for the warhead were unknown but it is suggested that Burkina Faso and Botswana had been supplying nuclear reactor waste to various location at home for weaponizing and enrichment...

the missile is carried by Deftech M4-P1aU road mobile 8x8 transporter..erector and launcher vehicle (TEL) designed based on Astros Avibras MLRS platform..each consist 2-4 missile...while the Deftech P4-iL4NG 8x8 vehicle serves as command and weather monitoring platform..

According to MERCUN ROKET the missile is similar to KEBABOM which it is designed to be immune to any current or planned U.S missile defence system. It is claimed to be capable of making evasive maneuvers to avoid a kill by terminal phase interceptors, and carries targeting countermeasures and decoys. It is shielded against radiation, EMP, nuclear explosions at distances over 500 meters, and is designed to survive a hit from any laser technology.

it is reported that a second batch of TEBABOM ballistic missile regiment is ready for activation and currently waiting for the next shipment of the said missile..

MAFSCU MK 2 is a Malaysian Army advanced technology demonstration project that is part of the Malaysia’s Soldier Modernisation Program. The SMP project seeks to create a lightweight, fully integrated infantryman combat system. It is one technology demonstration project in a series of network-centric, next-generation infantry combat projects the Malaysian Army have developed over the past decade, such as the MAFSCU technology demonstration program.

MAFSCU MK concept envisions the radical use of technologies such as nanotechnology, powered exoskeletons, and magnetorheological fluid-based body armor to provide the infantry with significantly higher force multiplier than the opposing force.

However, the stated concept is not Malaysian Army traditional doctrine, and is not intended to answer every situation that Army would face; rather, the concept is meant to serve as an end goal to strive to reach or to compromise with current technologies and to stir imagination and dialogue on how these technologies and concepts can help soldiers in the near future.
