Royal Malaysian Navy introduce new heavy missile corvette

The Mentarang Class new heavy missile corvette was a medium-sized corvette Ship designed primarily for anti-ship combat. The ship was designed to be balanced with the Puaka Class Destroyer in firepower, although in a one-on-one engagement the Puaka Class ship would usually emerge victorious due to its concentration on heavier firepower.

Its Heavy Kinetic guns enabled the ship to both heavily damage frigates and destroyers and also attack strike craft much more efficiently then the Puaka Class Destroyer could. Its secondary weapons were two 9 missile tubes, mounted on forward underside section of the ship, which were used only against other capital ships as a backup to the cannons.

One role the The Mentarang Class excelled at was as a disruptor of resource operations. It's turrets and missile allowed it to quickly dispatch lightly armored resources and their resource controllers with speed and ease, while still having enough flexibility to defeat or at least escape from escorts or light reinforcements sent to destroy it.

Even if they were somehow pinned down they could hold their own against most ships and would at least divert ships from other duties. Furthermore, it would be suicide for any resourcing personnel to resume work in the area until the destroyer had been completely neutralized, which equated to further disruption of the enemy's resource flow.

Their rapid-fire kinetic cannons can dispatch Frigates quicker. Their kinetic cannons also provide a relatively accurate and damaging deterrent to Strike Craft, particularly corvettes. However, like all Capital Ships, Destroyers are vulnerable to Bombers.

A curious tactic employed by the RMN ship involved the vessel swinging on it's own axis to present it's broadside to a target. Whilst this increases it's own target profile to an enemy, it also allowed the vessel to utilize all four of it's twin linked kinetic cannons, firing full salvos reminiscent of old Galleons against a target. In addition to this fearsome bombardment, the destroyer when engaging capital class ships would also launch dual missile salvos on a target, pinning the opposition in a withering hail of fire. When carried out in conjunction with two other destroyers in a squadron, the effect is awe inspiring.

definately the most dangerous corvette ever built.

But, you keepers of military secrets, relax. This Spotlight is not a piece of investigative journalism into the world of military black projects. ........ok almost all are fiction lulz....and dont you know?
