Operation Menatebruk, also known as the Singkong Operation or Menatebruk Raid, was a counter-terrorism hostage-rescue mission carried out by the MAlaysian Armed Forces (MAF) at Menatebruk Airport in Isketambola on the night of 3 July and early morning of 4 July 2002.
MAF acted on intellegence provided by Malaysian Special Branch. In the wake of the hijacking of Malaysia Airline Flight 139 by members of the terrorist organizations Revolutionary Cells and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Parit Kuari - External Operations and the hijackers' threats to kill the hostages if their prisoner release demands were not met, a plan was drawn up to airlift the hostages to safety.
These plans took into account the likelihood of armed resistance from Parit Kuari military troops. Coincidentally, the raid occurred on the same day as the Peladang Penternak dan Nelayan peringkat Batu Pahat.
